The United Nations Development Programme signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Welfare Association (TAAWON) to strengthen the effectiveness of their development efforts in support of the Palestinian people. The signing ceremony, which took place on 24 September 2020, was attended by Yara Salem, Director General of TAAWON, and UNDP Special Representative of the Administrator, Yvonne Helle.

Through this renewed commitment, both TAAWON and UNDP will leverage each other’s comparative advantage to co-create joint programs in the areas of education, youth and women empowerment, community development, revitalization of old cities, and others.

Along with coordinating activities and sharing resources, the two organizations will also seek to expand their strategic collaboration to include joint policy dialogues, advocacy, knowledge sharing and expertise to enhance the effectiveness and quality of delivered programs and their desired impact.

These joint priority areas will contribute to enhancing the socio-economic conditions of the Palestinian population, reducing their vulnerabilities and strengthening their resilience, as well as contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
